Brazilian demand of imported gas is expected to grow gradually
over the next few years; therefore, imports from Bolivia,
Peru and Venezuela will be on the rise, said Brazilian state
oil firm Petrobras International Area Manager Nestor Cerveró,
as quoted by official news agency ABN.
In the mid term, growing imports from Venezuela will be possible
with the Southern Gas Pipeline, linking Venezuela with Brazil.
During the first stage, the gas will be carried through Pernambuco.
Cerveró added that ending this year, a taskforce should
submit its findings on feasibility, terms and cost of the
laying of the gas pipeline. The project will help expand the
fuel import from Venezuela, due to the supply of 60 million
cubic meters of gas.
